Wow! I really loved the movie Big Momma’s House. The movie is absolutely stunning with top-notch graphics and visuals while Phyllis Applegate deliver some award-winning performances in this movie.

I also think Starletta DuPois was great! The visuals and graphics make for some very realistic on screen special-effects but that is the beauty of the movie.When the movie wants to be funny it is funny, the same is true for when the movie needs to deliver its scary aspects.

I think Phyllis Applegate and Starletta DuPois worked wonderful in Big Momma’s House. The great supporting cast includes Phyllis Applegate, Starletta DuPois, Paul Giamatti, Terrence Howard, Martin Lawrence.

The movie moves between the three men’s relationships with women and each other. Surprisingly, It Runs in the Family isn’t as much of a vanity project as it seems; though some implausible elements serve only to flatter the stars (wealthy lawyer Alex volunteers at a soup kitchen for the homeless, where a babelicious co-worker throws herself at him), most of the script is solidly written and the parent-child conflicts ring true. Granada Television’s powerful adaptation of John Galsworthy’s novels about the sprawling, fractious and aristocratic Forsyte family moves into the 1920s with Series Two, based on the author’s To Let. The drama shifts to a new generation shouldering the burdensome legacies of an aging Soames (Damian Lewis) and his failed marriage to free-spirited Irene (Gina McKee). The lovely Fleur (Emma Griffiths Malin), Soames’s daughter by second wife Annette (Beatriz Batarda), and strapping Jon (Lee Williams), son of Irene and Soames’s bohemian cousin, Jolyon (Rupert Graves), develop a romance much to the dismay of their feuding parents. But the long reach of the elder Forsytes’ sins–and the tenderness with which they seek redemption through their children–ultimately undercuts the young lovers’ happiness.

Meanwhile, sundry characters move in and out of the Forsytes’ orbit, including a French businessman (Michael Maloney) stirring more troubles for Soames and an art dealer (Oliver Milburn) with designs on Fleur. As with Series One, all this will feel familiar to anyone who has seen the 26-part, 1967 version of The Forsyte Saga (the program that arguably created public television as we know it). Yet this updated effort renews and redefines the Forsytes’ overlapping tragedies, with a more interior feel and a first-rate contemporary cast. As with its legendary predecessor, this Forsyte Saga depends heavily on the seemingly soulless Soames’s slow evolution to humanity; Damian Lewis carries the load brilliantly. –Tom Keogh

Summary of Senso:

It is 1855, and the Austrian military has occupied Italy. Countess Livia Serpieri (Alida Valli) falls deeply in love with Franz Mahler (Farley Granger), an Austrian lieutenant. When she rendezvous with the lieutenant, she finds a drunken, ungrateful rogue who has used her only for her money, in what is perhaps among the most psychologically disturbing scenes ever filmed. Her revenge is swift and decisive, and though severe, quite believable. This 1954 film from Luchino Visconti (The Damned, Death in Venice) is a complex depiction of human passions and the destruction they can wreak, set against the larger destruction of war. A simple story told against the backdrop of countries at war, it belongs to the same genre as Reds and Doctor Zhivago, and is definitely worth viewing. –James McGrath
